Amazing atmosfere tonight, before the famous State of origin, but for 90 minutes, 14 warriors where thinking only in victory and glory. In front of us a well ordered opponent. East is a team that play a very physical football, with a strong midfield and 2 tall and good central defenders. Also, the field was completely different for the team, but even with that, the red's managed for get the 3 points with a incredible second 45 min. That second half was a monumental lesson of spirit, courage and football.
Uncomfortable start
The game start with a incredible speed. The ball quicker than usual, and East closing lines, stoped the habitual ball control of the team. Ross and Ian had a dirty fight face to face with two really good midfielders, special n20. They hit strong.
Even with all those accidents, Pagewood had the game in East field most part of the time, with a brilliant Ross and Ian, comanding and ordering. The ball was going closer to Foff and Marco, who had a couple of oportunities, but whitout any problem for the goalkeeper. But still...the ball was going too fast.
Breaking Bad. 1-0
And then, something strange happen. Pagewood found himself in a strange situation, go one goal under...since the victory 4-1 against Loko B, we always strike first. Was that allowed? I mean i thought that was some kind of rule... A corner. It came from a corner. Coming from a lonely attack. The ball was to fast for Sam, and East score from inside the area with a powerfull shoot. Althought that the team probably didn't deserve that goal, something was going on. Those 50-50!!!
Cam was talking to Marco in the game "Marco stop the ball! Controll it" In reference to that tempo in the game. The habitual one two was to quick for that field. Something had to change.
Today is no the day that we loose
Confused faces in the half time, because nobody known what to say. We never went to a half time under in the score. In a circle, they start to talk. Cam talk, Ian talk and Jason talk. More intensity, more balls, we have the football and we can do it.
And then, the scottish yell, "boys today is not the day that we loose". A powerful Pagewood! and back to the game. And it wasn't that day
The 14 warriors and the consequence of one idea
The second half start with everyone in formation and ready for fight every ball.
The conception of the game change totally from one half to another, in this one, Ross, took one step ahead, and became that electrical player, vertical and fast. With him, Jason and Marco, those two are like a hollywood couple, the tall and strong and the short and fast. The machinery was working, product of that the chances where happening. Kenny was a bizarre enemy for East defence, he found the right speed in the game and became the perfect partner for the midfielders.
Stu, back in the right, with Cam and George in operation Rambo mode on took the control of the defence creating a secure wall. Mikee showed again his skills playing vertical, and becoming a second wing. Marco and Jason, helping the midfield when was necessary, and playing more close to each other, was making the difference, but over everything, what the difference was, is the attitude. We played like a final. They hit the Lion and the Lion was back.
1-1 We are back. Jason hunt again
The ball was going from the wing, and end up to Marco, who after controll, takes the fast way to the goal, but the central defender is over him, he start to fell, but he get's a shoot! the goalkeeper refuse the ball, but Jason, like a predator is there, he avoid the goalkeeper again and score a fantastic goal! 8th and up!
That goal became like an adrenaline shoot for Pagewood, that decide to go for the second.
Pete and Danny had a hard task during the 90 minutes. They had a strong right side, but Danny played again in the right way, offering a lesson in defence, order, and security. When Pete put more orderd, Foff put the leg. He definetly made a lot of friends in East, because he fight against all the defence playing as a striker. He also had a important chance in the first half!
1-2 Boyaaaaaaaaa Jason Jason Jason!
With every single player dressed in red aimimg the goal, the equation was around to work again. When players shown a character like that, goal is a mathematic fact. Again, the ball get to Jason, who decided that this was enough. He stop the ball outside the area, took a steep back and fire the rifle. A well celebrated goal that put the universe under control again. Jason with 9 goals, is becoming a very important key for this team. He again did a repertory of courage, team game and goal hunger.
Everything was working as usuall again, defence, midfield and attack, players like Beau and Kenny get more action in attack. The team was working
1-3 A goal por cojones. Marco scores the KO
Another player that get more in to the game was Marco, who start the second half more calmed, and taking more space with the ball. He participate as usuall associating with the team, specially with Ross and Jason. In one of those aproximations, Jason get the ball in the left from Ross, who does a diagonal and become a second striker, but Jason open to the right, Marco outside the area stop and shoot, but it goes straight to the keeper... the shoot get refused and the ball dies in the area, but the catalan sprints to the ball and hit with the heart. 1-3 this goal was a reflex of how the whole team played today those second 45 min. With two balls. From Sam to Jason, stopping in every single one of those 14 players.
2-3 East score to late
East showed to be a good enemy. They fought man to man but without be arrogants. They score a second goal just before the referee end the game. East FC is another one of those teams that sweat the t-shirt, and was a beautiful and agressive test for this team. The red's end up another game with a victory.
21 points and counting, and the team in his best moment. Look's like every week the team concept is improving. Everyone wants to be part of it and it's the base of this confidence. Playing together everything is possible.
1-0 East Fc 1-1 Jason 1-2 Jason 1-3 Marco 2-3 East Fc
- Sam 6: Broken. Very bad news, Sam end up the game injured. Hopefully he can be bacl at 100% in time! Security in high balls, and perfect in the pass, starting the game froam the goal.
- Stu 7: Moved, he start the game in the left back, and althought that he played really well, he found more ball control in the second half, playing in the right. Perfect stoping East contratacks with a solid job in defence. His security with the ball makes the right wing a secure area.
- Cam 7: Stopped. Today Cam did a great effort in defence, and stayed in line with Stu and George. He couldn't jump that much in attack like other ocasions. Even with this, he managed for get a lot of participation starting the game, doing good diagonal passes in attack.
- George 8: Capo. He got the voice again, and keep the defence in order. Specially in the second half when he play with an extra point of motivation. Nothing across George line.
- Mikee 7: Vertiginous. Good game of the left back. When he was in the field, covered a big area of incluence in the left wing. Always right when attacking, and good temperament in defence. He got good chances in the second half
- Ian 9: Call of duty. He deployed a full arsenal of tricks in the midfield, fighting against a very tough opponent. He must have a few bruises because every ball was gold for Ian. Important in attack and always back in position before you can say missisipi.
- Ross 9: Diabolic. Always changing his way to play, last week he played deep and this week he played ahead. He choose always the best idea, and although that he was unlucky in the definition (he almost score a beautiful goal) attack is his first language. Always unpredictable
- Pete 7: Challenge. He had in front of him a very difficult game, very physical and not much room for his habitual touch and pass. Even with that he fought like a champion and never lost the concentration. Solid in defence.
- Kenny 8: Superclass, what a great game of the wing. Always playing ahead, dribbling and controlling, the opponent defence will remember him this week. Always going ahead and never loosing the position. Massive effort of the middfielder. He did really good combinations with Ross, Marco, Jason...
- Marco 8: Bull, the catalan did a complete second half, fighting, pressing, passing, shooting and again, scoring. Does a great couple with Jason, and as usuall he have a massive understanding with Ross. He's very commited with the team and play every minute as a final.
- Jason 9: Is not many things that we can add about Jason's aka the Crane. He score again 2 goals, and play another great game. One goal from a powerful shoot, and the second, a pure 100% striker goal, hunting in the area. Jason can scratch from his list East Fc, please who is next?
- Foff 7: Pirate, his girlfriend must be scared because she discovered that she's daiting a bargain. He did a awesome expenditure of energy pressing and chasing every ball. Also had a great chance on a header in the first half.
- Beau 7: Tackled. He get "kisses" from the whole right side of East FC, they caught him a few times, but even with that he still passing balls to the area. Unfortunely he coulnd't assist this week, or score. Another player that is playing better and better
- Danny 8: Different. Danny is a complete different player that the one that start the season. He's absolutely commited and he has improved in every aspect. In this last game, he was perfectly coordinated with the defence line, plus also coordinated with the wing. Comunication was the key. Rude in defence and sweet in the pass
