A lot of goals, great attitude (even starting loosing) and a really good atmosphere before the match. A well prepared warm up, and a decisive talk from the Captain, Jason, and Cam.
A spectacular Jason with 2 goals and 2 assistances guide the team to another victory and the achievement of 3 more points. Pete, Beau and Marco scored the other goals. Sam decisive again stop a penalty.
On the other side, the team had to deal without Ross, and Mikee was unfortunately injured, he had to go to the hospital. Bad news for a team that is loosing one of his best defenders for the next 2 games (Cam).
Strange start and a quick goal to deal with. Maroubra strikes first 0-1
The game start with the following squad. Sam, defence of four with Stu, and Mikee on the wings, and Cam and George in the middle. Midfield in line of four with Beau and Pete on the sides, and Ian and Kenny covering the middle. Ahead, Jason and Marco. So far so good, with the usual ball control, although that without Ross, the team play´s a bit more accelerated, and this has good and bad things.
Marco had an early chance after a combination with Jason, and Beau was starting to open the right wing with fasts sprints, but in a isolated contra-attack, Maroubra score a lonely goal. One shoot one goal. Not a good start. First 15 min, and Pagewood was fighting against the ghost of the last game. The goal actually wasn't showing what was going on in the game, But football is not always fair.
Jason start his show. Beau put the tables 1-1
With all Pagewood looking for the goal, that had to come in some point. Jason was advising everyone with some shoots from outside the box, and Kenny had a few chances too. In the middle, Ian was (as we say in spain) cutting the fish. It means that he was bossing around everybody. And then Beau and Jason swap papers. Marco cross from left to right, passing to Evan, who put a ball in the right wing for the Crane, this get the ball and fighting with his pair go the the end line and pass the ball to Beau, who scores the 1-1 without opposition. 3th goal of the right wing, and Jason got another assistance. Beautiful goal from a nice team play.
The universe became normal. Tic, tac toc, and Jason scores the 2-1
The team definetly had change his attitude and the berserker mode was on. If Beau was becoming a nightmare in the right wing, Marco was doing his job on the left (position that he took when Evan jump to the field for Pete). In one of those, Marco break the defence again, and pass to Evan, who stop and does a perfect pass to Jason, who in the left side of the box, stop, turns around and score after a powerful shoot! This is the speciality of Jason, who like a masterchef has his own masterplate!
Game control and more chances.
From the 2-1 and with the universe in his place, the team became more confortable with the whole enchilada. They start to apply the punishment of the tiki taka strategy, and they start to generate more chances against Maroubra. When the green team tried to contra attack, the always well positioned defence stop them again and again. Today, George and Cam did a massive work keeping the order, talking with everyone, and cover the back of the whole team. Stu and Mikee, where always in position, and they always known when to go forward or not. After all, 45min gone, the reds where coming back and everything was happiness in Pagewoodlandia.
The art of talking.
This was the biggest difference in between the last game and this one. The talk. We talk before the game, we talk during the game and we talk at the half time. Is really encouraging to see how people like Cam, Ian, Pete or Foff, are becoming more and more involved with the team. I´m not saying that the rest they aren't, because this is a lie, but in the last weeks, Cam for example is taking more responsibilities. He his one of the veterans, and he act like that. Always chilled and calmed, every-time that open his mouth is for say something important. He kind of remember me Mascherano, this kind of player, that doesn't score or doesn't does magic tricks with the ball, but always fight hard and always is committed with the team. A professional
3-1 Pete knock Maroubra Out.

3-1 Pete knock Maroubra Out.
The second half start with a team full of motivation, and decided to put the end of the game as fast as possible. It was starting to become cold, and the red team was on a hurry. In one of those Evan played fast with Marco, the Spaniard start a slalom leaving players behind until someone caught him. fault and yellow card. Evan like if he was buying and ice cream, pick the ball, keep the chill and....BOOOOOOOOM missile to the bar! the keeper touched a bit but the ball end up touching the post and felling in the small area. But Pagewood had in Pete an advance student. When everybody was looking Evan and his amazing shoot, Pete was following the ball. He score a well deserved goal
Mikee get injured and Marco decide to fly 4-1
After Pete's goal, the game was virtually finished, because Maroubra never showed any kind of decision or reaction. The fortune play against us one more time, leaving Mikee out of the field for one week (?) he got injured when he was going to throw from the side. That's been unlucky.
Anyway, somebody had to cover the left flank, and that was Marco. And Marco is always ready to gamble. In a corner against the red's, Sam refuse the ball, and Marco start to sprint from his own area, a bit before the midfield, he pass the ball to Evan, and he keep running and running, Evan to Jason, who wait until the moment is perfect, and he put a long ball to Marco, who was still running. He went faster than nobody, face the keeper and ask him, ready to dance? He put the ball on the side with a nice touch and Beautiful goal!
5-1 The crane put the opposite keeper on a embarrassing situation.
My beloved readers, I can't explain this goal really well, because it comes from nowhere. I mean, a random ball end up at Jason Boot's who is very close to the midfield, but even with that, he shoots, and the keeper just look how the ball go inside the goal. Maybe the keeper was unpayed or something like that...anyway, another goal for the perfect striker.
Sam, profession Goalkeeper.
Best game from our goalkeeper so far. He didn't had much job, but apart from the goal, that he almost saved, he did everything perfect. Secure with himself and the world, good with the feet and fast on the pass. He is getting that security in the jump and he want to win this league. He stop a penalty holding the position like a professional. Congratulations Sam
1-0 Maroubra FC 1-1 Beau (Jason) 2-1 Jason (Evan) 3-1 Pete 4-1 Marco (Jason) 5-1 Jason
- Sam 9: Couldn't do much in the goal, but he save everything that came there. Even a penalty. With Sam motivated we can finish this league without more defeats.
- Stu 7: Noble. More defensive than usual, but even with that his side was secure. Excellent looking for long distance passes. Technically is every game better and better, and he doesn't fear anybody. He is part of the base of this team. With Cam, George and Mikee they are the red back
- Cam 8: Total Player. As I mention before, he is in his best moment so far. Disciplined, fast, agile, intelligent and tactical perfect. He's understanding with George make everything easier. Bad news that he's not here for 2 weeks.
- George 8: Saint George. The legend says that one day a striker pass him without problems. More than a legend this is a fairytale, he knows when he has to do a tactical fault. Imperative in air balls and great keeping the order.
- Mikee 7: Broken. He was doing a great job on the left back until he got injured. With more freedom than Stu, because on the right side of maroubra they had very slow players. Get better soon amigo
- Ian 8: 4x4 His first 45 minutes should be on youtube or porntube, whatever you prefer. He did a class of how to keep the control of the midfield. On the other side he couldn't progress as much as he likes in attack.
- Kenny 7: Sparkling. Although that Kenny find more fun to play on the wing, he did a great game in the midfield, using his technical skills for move the ball. In the bad side, he loose that slalom that he use to do when he is on the wing. A very serious game from Kenny
- Beau 8: "El Rapido". He complete his best 45 minutes, doing a show in the right wing. A goal and a bag full of great crosses in his repertory. Also in the second half he put a couple of balls to Marco and Jason. Great Game
- Pete 8: Free. He start the game a bit cold and accelerated, but once he got his habitual touch, he played probably his best game. He scored a goal that he deserve, and also could score a couple more. He is improving on his dribbling skills, as he showed today going to the one on one a few times, and he start to put more the body than before. He's becoming more and more confident.
- Jason 9: 2 goals, 2 assistances, fight, pass, touch, shoot, tequila..no, the last one was the last weekend.... The crane is on fire and if he doesn't stop he will achieve his goal. 20 golazos. He wants to win and he pass this aggressive behavior to everybody
- Marco 8: X-Men. The spaniard play the full 90 min in 3 different positions. Striker, left wing and left back. Always happy to face any opponent and show some skills in the one on one. Also he keep a high rhythm with the ball, trying to find always the best space for do a pass. His goal is reflection of what he wants. The title.
- Evan 7: Classy. Evan is one of those players that sometimes doesn't look like is there, but is there! he doesn't need as much space as players like Beau or Marco need. He only need a few touches and Voila! pass to Jason, or great free kick! That's another great new, in between him and Ross we have a lot of chances to score any time that the ref signs a fault.
- Foff 7: He wasn't healthy enough for play (you could tell straight away) but even with this, he was there ready for the mambo. He didn't play as much as usual, but once he was on the field, he show bravery and aggressiveness. This time he played on the right wing, place that is not his favourite. He develops his best as a striker.
